Goals & Project Overview

Welcome to EmuWorld! This is the official site of the discord server which is kind of like the main hub when it comes to this project!

EmuWorld's objective is to become the go-to emulator website/repository for any emulator as well as compile and provide information about emulators and emulation in general. It is also a place for emulation enthusiasts to gather and talk about emulation, which you can do by creating an account and joining the group!

File sharing is present on the website which means any of you guys can upload builds, so if you're looking for a specific build check out if someone has uploaded it to the filesharing tab and download it, however please do so at your own risk as it is user-generated and anyone can upload. Happy emulating!

What is Emulation?

Emulation is quite complex, so to put it in simple terms think of it as software that essentially mimics the hardware (console) that you are attempting to emulate.

The whole process of building said software is quite complex, but luckily some people certainly way smarter than me figured and mapped it all out, which makes it pretty easy to get into since you only really need to download an emulator.

Generally all you need to get into playing your favorite childhood classics is a simple BIOS file (think of it as a file that allows you to reproduce the console's firmware), which you can dump from your

console.

If you found yourself looking at all this text and thinking "dear god...

why can't just be a tool that sets it all up for me?" well, say no more.
Let me introduce you to a tool that takes care of emulation installation &

configuration for you: Emudeck.

- For more info:

In case you need more information you can check out the news & info tab,

the group tab, our discord or even the r/emulators101 subreddit, they're really helpful. Usually each emulator has a dedicated community and subreddit so you can ask for help there too in case you come across any issues!

- Why Emulate?

If you might be wondering why go through, you know, the entire hassle of emulating games when you can just play them on the original console, well, there are a bunch of reasons actually.

If you have strong enough hardware you can enjoy your favorite games with improved/uncapped framerate, you can emulate ANY system from the past 30+ years all with just one device, and much more! Save states (saving and loading at any point in the game), access to mods made by the community alongside upscaling, so you can play your games at higher resolutions.

There are a myriad of reasons as to why you might want to emulate your games honestly, it's hard to list them all, but it really is worth the inital barrier of entry.

- "What Emulator should I use?"

I think this is the question I get the most, so let me guide you through what emulator you should use to emulate pretty much any console:

 • PS1/N64 and older: RetroArch. You can also use Duckstation if you just

want to do standalone PS1 emulation. | (Hardware Requirements)

 • PS2: go for PCSX2 | (Hardware Requirements)

 • PS3: use RPCS3(Hardware Requirements)

 • PSP: Use PPSSPP(Hardware Requirements)

• Dreamcast: ReDream(Hardware Requirements)

 • Gamecube/Wii: Dolphin | (Hardware Requirements)

 • DS: use DeSmuMe(Hardware Requirements)

 • Wii U: CemU(Hardware Requirements)

 • Xbox: XEMU(Hardware Requirements)

 • Xbox360: Xenia(Hardware Requirements)

 • 3DS: Citra | (Hardware Requirements)
